The Student Recruitment and Retention Center (SRRC) recognizes that the key to being a successful student-led center is the work of Very Important People (VIP) who assist us in completing our project work. We are always seeking outgoing, dedicated students just like you to join us as we stand for educational equity.

Ready-Set-Go Volunteers get to work with all programs of the SRRC and do not have a steady schedule. Volunteers will be contacted as opportunities arise and have the option of opting in or out. Becoming a Ready-Set-Go Volunteer is perfect for the student looking to learn more about the SRRC or the student that has other obligations and cannot commit to planning or consistent hours. At the end of each quarter Volunteers will be given a letter documenting their volunteer hours and will be invited to the end of the quarter VIP reception.
Community Interns work closely with an SRRC Coordinator or chair a commitee to plan a specific event or activity. Additionally, Community interns help to spread awareness of culturally relevant topics impacting educational equity. All Community Interns will be given a nametag and assigned to work with a specific coordinator based on their interest. Becoming a Community Intern is ideal for folks that are passionate about raising community awareness and who seek to build their public speaking and planning abilities. Community Interns are required to attend a VIP orientation and are invited to attend an end of the quarter VIP reception.
Transcript Notation is for those Community Interns that have completed 10 or more hours and are looking to build proficiency in a specific area that aligns with the values and mission of the SRRC. To earn transcript notation interns will need to fulfill 40 hours of internship; 30 of those hours with a specific program, 5 hours of pre-identified professional development workshops and 5 hours supporting other programs within the SRRC. Those accepted, as a Transcript Notation VIP will be given a nametag, and will be matched with a peer supervisor for the duration of their 40-hour commitment (which can be completed over two consecutive quarters). At the conclusion of their internship participants will receive official transcript notation, update their resume, create or update their LinkedIn profile including a professional headshot, and be able to articulate their transferrable skills. All participants will be invited to attend an end of the quarter VIP reception.
- Maintain good academic standing (2.0 GPA and meet minimum progress)
- Maintain an accurate log of hours
- Attend SRRC Volunteer & Intern Program (VIP) Orientation
- Comply with all guidelines and procedures as indicated in the SRRC employee manual
Retention & Academic Support – Retention interns support peer led initiatives focused on increasing educational equity for underserved communities. Additional tasks include but are not limited to event promotion, assessment and facilitating inter and cross community dialogues. Students with an interest in community organizing or ethnic studies are encouraged to apply.
Recruitment – Recruitment interns work collaboratively with program coordinators by attending weekly outreach visits to middle school, high school or community colleges. Recruitment interns assist in the planning of youth/transfer conferences and creating a comprehensive syllabus based on students needs. Students with an interest in education are encouraged to apply.
Administrative – Administrative interns will assist with the management of program logistics, budgeting, communication and the recruitment of volunteers. Administrative interns should be detail oriented and have a willingness to learn how to use various databases.
Student Director – Student Director interns will gain hands on leadership experience via program assessment, and management. Students with an interest in community organizing, political science or ethnic studies are encouraged to apply.
Graphics & Marketing – Graphic & Marketing interns will work across programs with a coordinator to design multiple forms of media publicizing the SRRC and its initiatives. Students with an interest in marketing and graphic design are encouraged to apply. (Applicable to entire SRRC, not a single program).
Campus Visits – Campus Visit interns will be expected to assist in organizing and leading tours for non-UCD students and become familiar with the resources available at UCD. Students with a love of the UCD campus and an interest in tourism or ethnic studies are encouraged to apply. (Applicable only to Collective).
